Halfords Autocentres Reviews

I have used Halfords (Skippers Lane, Middlesbrough)previously and not had any issues. This time poor service, booked in for mot and service they charged me 129.00 for this, which was fine. They rang me and informed me it had failed its mot and was going to cost over 1000 to fix. Then they lowered the price to 900 for the urgent items. Then he said oh we will give you discount and do the mot service brake pads front and rear and rear disks for 750. This seemed very expensive. I told them I will look elsewhere. I rang kwikfit and they quoted me 300. I took it to my friend he replace them for less than 200. What a joke halfords is. I am a woman and don't rely on anyone, I feel halfords literally tried to con me as he Then offered to do it for 243.52. Definitely will not be using them again.

MOT done professionally and quickly. Staff were very polite. Reasonably priced and a list of things that might need doing in the next few months. I would go there again

Fantastic service at Stockport branch!

Car was in for wheel balancing. Manager was friendly and helpful and it was done reasonably quickly. When I got home I checked the torque of the wheel bolts which was correct and is nice to see because most garages just use the gun which makes them impossible to get off in the future. The only downside is that during the “health report”, my front tyres were measured as being 5mm tread/53% worn which is funny because they were brand new a week before. I’ve literally done 100 miles on them. This makes me think they are trying to deceive the customer in order to sell some tyres that you don’t need, either that or they didn’t measure them properly. Whichever the reason, it doesn’t give me much trust in the mechanics.

Bad experience with Halfords. First service with them as being the cheaper option. Once there get the usual sales pitch which I declined extras. During work, get a call saying my tires are close to legal limit (which I knew were not bad as it had been for a warranty repair at ford 5 days before) and made out like the brake fluid was an advisory. Only when I checked my report from ford, I saw it as green so no need to replace. Just a big money making scam. Will not be using them again

The work was only half completed. Have had to have an other mechanic finish the job. Halford was happy to give me a list of jobs they think need doing,which I have had checked by an other mechanic and work not necessary at this time.
Halford also took the full amount for a job half done.
